Oh, those two were for my mates...

Where is my camera cable?

Oh, it's at the flat.

Otherwise I could show you:
1. the most hillarious Jordy facials ever
2. a sequence of Brad eating a McDonald's cheeseburger (with mayo? I think so) in one go
3. an ingenious new use for shoes: giving messages to short people
4. us taking beers from the Shore Sounds cooler, before heading off to Whammy. Two each, then two more.

Last night we played two shows... which is a feat I had managed before, but not with so much "early beer" factor. First was the Shore Sounds gig at Windsor Reserve in Devonport. This was actually really great. Good rider. Good sound guys. Anything you want to do, the large affable sound guy would say "sweet as brother". Jordy was his brother, I was his brother. We played, I thought, really well. Underage kids got their shake and pogo on to BNM classics.

Then 'The Earlybirds' played. I don't know if they know, but the whole world knows the twelve bar blues. They still find it novel. They also still find 'yeah' novel. The lead guitarist was wearing a Bruce Springsteen/Steve Van Zant bandana. For that = much respect, but for the cold greeting, no.

That said, Jacob from The Checks was LOVELY. And Death in Goyza were there. BAND FRIENDS. Their drummer told them, an hour before the gig, that he 'couldn't make it'... they called up their old drummer. He loves the reggae beats.

Then on to Whammy. What happened? We were tired. What did we do? Jordy and I went home. Some people speculated we were off to sleep together. Jordy told them "he's already kissed me and now, I'm not interested".

Turn

Life has taken an unexpected turn. Very sizeable. You don't need to know the details, but maybe it explains something of my future behaviour.

At least I'm not at the stage of writing songs about nuns who want to be strippers.

I am at the stage of finishing around 4 songs that I'll start recording next Thursday with Damian in his dungeon. I wrote one of them yesterday, one a few weeks ago, one before I went to Chile and the last one around 3 years ago. I'm not sure what I'll do with them, I'll have to hear them first, but I'll probably put them up here soon for everyone to have a look at.

The Green Room (not Behind the Green Door)

So it is getting to the point where I'm really going to have to stop spending so much time organising my bands and actually read some books... without going to check my email every 5 minutes. Does anyone out there have anything that important to tell me via email? Possibly (contract negotiations, gig stuff, bills), but it can wait can't it? I don't know... you might be preeeeetty excited by this news.

Oh yeah, if you read this, please vote for Brand New Math on 95bfm this week. Go on. Get amongst it.

And check out Duncan and Stevie's new mp3 blog over on the most stupid NZ-based website to be invented in recent memory. Wow, all those hot muso celebrities in one place? All their cumulative knowledge condensed in one place? This place must be magical, filled with rainbows and unicorns decorated in blue satin tuxedos! (But I doooo kind of want to hear what Liam Finn has to say. Maybe he'll tell me about foreign food... or the green room at David Letterman's 'Late Show'.... or the FOOD in the green room).

I PROMISE next time there will be gravely intelligent things to say.

Or just put things through a translation engine:

So it obtains to the point where actually to the ides to stop to spend so much time organizing my strips and is actual to read some books... without to go to verify my email every minutes. Any does outside there have that -nibble that important in order to say to me through email? As far as possible (consideration of contract conditions, substance gig, calculations), only it can await it cannot it? 4 do not know... you we could be preeeeetty excited by this news. Oh yeah, if you read this, then if you please votes for brandnew mathematics on 95bfm this week. Go further. Will obtain amongst it. And checking from blog mp3 Duncan and Stevie's new over on stupidest NZ-sunny website, it is which necessary to invent in the recent memory. Wow, all those hot celebrities muso in one place? Entire their cumulative knowledge did condense in one place? This place must be magic, after it is filled with rainbow and unicorns the decorated into blue tuxedos satin! (only form doooo I wants to hear Liam Finn must say. Possibly he will say to me about strange food... or to green room on the exhibition of David Letterman's of the "latter '.... or FOOD in the green room). I PROMISE by the following time will be there grave the most intelligent things, it is which necessary to say.

S A T U R, DAY

Phony Bone played at Mairangi Bay Reserve on Saturday with The Coshercots and The Brunettes. I have no idea about the quality of our playing on that huge stage to a distant audience of funky nanas and kids on beach towels. But afterwards, we played catch!!

Guy on the right. New Zealand's premier wind-surfer. Oh yeah.

BOOKS!
Finally, facials by Vince befitting his face-scorching guitar playing. I think he went and serenaded Myers Park after this.
The Lads.

Stoked, Fully

I think I'm going to start doing some recordings, by myself. I think I'll just do them then post them here. If anyone can think of a good solo-guy name, email me (other than just my name... that's obvious).

Since coming back from camp, life is pretty cool. I just keep reading things and, whenever I check my email, being directed to photos of me on the internet. I got to see the Ruby Suns before they go to America, did you?

I <3 Jordie and Calum.
